About Us
DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to protecting children and other vulnerable people online. Our mission is to reduce online risks through education and technology to create safer digital spaces.

Role Description
We are currently producing Season 2 of "Dark Side of the Web" and are looking for talented 2D Animators to create a visual companion for each episode. Season 1 consisted of 13 episodes, and Season 2 will feature up to 9 episodes, each running between 7-13 minutes. While the podcast is primarily an audio experience, we have a YouTube following of over 6,000 subscribers who would benefit from engaging visuals.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute your skills to a meaningful cause. Talented animators may be offered paid opportunities after successfully completing some assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Produce engaging 2D animations that visually represent the story and themes of each podcast episode.
Work closely with the podcast production team to ensure visuals align with the episode’s script and tone.
Be open to making adjustments based on team feedback to enhance the quality and impact of the visuals.
Work on a flexible schedule but commit to completing animations within the agreed timeframe for each episode.
Bring creative input to the table, helping shape the visual style and approach for the animated content.
Qualifications
Experience in 2D animation software (e.g., Adobe Animate, Toon Boom, etc.) is preferred, but those eager to learn are encouraged to apply.
Ability to translate scripts into compelling visuals that engage the audience and convey key themes.
Careful attention to detail to ensure animations are polished and aligned with the audio content.
Ability to communicate effectively with the team and incorporate feedback constructively.
Able to work independently, managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
Interest in online safety and raising awareness of digital dangers for children and vulnerable individuals.
