About Us:
DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.


Role Description:
The Child Advocate/Ambassador plays a crucial role in promoting the welfare and rights of children within our community. This position involves engaging with various stakeholders, including children, families, educators, and community leaders, to raise awareness about child advocacy issues and to support initiatives that enhance the well-being of children. The ideal candidate will be passionate about child welfare and possess strong communication skills to effectively represent the organization’s mission.


Key Responsibilities:
Advocacy and Outreach:
Actively promote the organization’s mission and programs related to child welfare.
Engage with local schools, community centers, and other organizations to raise awareness about children’s rights and available resources.
Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and seminars focused on child advocacy.
Support Services:
Provide direct support to children and families in need by connecting them with appropriate resources.
Assist in developing educational materials that inform families about their rights and available services.
Facilitate support groups or workshops for parents and caregivers.
Collaboration:
Work closely with social workers, educators, law enforcement, and healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated approach to child advocacy.
Participate in inter-agency meetings to discuss strategies for improving services for children.
Training and Development:
Attend training sessions on child advocacy issues, legal rights of children, trauma-informed care, etc.
Stay informed about current legislation affecting children’s rights at local, state, and national levels.
Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and interactions with families.
Prepare reports on program effectiveness and areas for improvement.


Qualifications:
MUST be 18 years and above.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology or a related field (preferred).
Experience working with children or families in a social service or educational setting.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Knowledge of child welfare laws and best practices in advocacy is a plus.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Skills Required:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Empathy and compassion towards children and families facing challenges.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms for outreach purposes.
